Hurricane Dorian has devastated the Bahamas. This fund provides basic hygiene necessities (diapers & period products) at no cost survivors of Hurricane Dorian in the Bahamas. Diapers and period products are overlooked, yet crucial basic need. With your support, we can distribute hope and dignity to people in their time of need.
Diapers and period products are overlooked basic needs, in times of disaster and fair weather. Many caregivers are forced to choose between food, diapers, rent, utilities, and other basic necessities. This project will provide diapers at no cost to Bahamian survivors of Hurricane Dorian through a collaborative effort between Jake's Diapers and A.M.A.R., a disaster relief organization working within the Alliance of nonprofit organizations sending medical relief to the Bahamas.
When disaster strikes, people tend to think about food, clothing, shelter and water. Hygiene necessities are often overlooked and challenging to provide in appropriate sizes. Jake's Diapers disaster relief partner A.M.A.R. is the boots on the ground in the Bahamas, and Jake's Diapers provides A.M.A.R. with diapers and period products at no cost to distribute to survivors. By working in this manner, efficiencies are created, skill sets maximized, and more people are helped.
Meeting hygiene need is essential for clean, healthy and prosperous lives, and creates a sense of dignity in those we serve. As hygiene needs are met, survivors can focus on other immediate needs; including locating shelter or fixing their damaged homes. Long term, meeting this need enables recipients to pursue a higher quality of life and remove themselves and future generations from the vicious cycle of poverty.
