Challenge

Hurricane Felix hit the North Atlantic Coast of Nicaragua, a geographically isolated region where tens of thousands of Indigenous Miskito people live without access to basic services. Prior to Hurricane Felix, many Miskitos were living in extreme poverty, subsisting on small-scale agriculture that barely met their basic needs. Without assistance, they will be unable to rebuild their communities after the destruction of their homes and crops.

Solution

As part of our Emergency and Disaster Relief Fund, MADRE is mobilizing funds to send to our Nicaraguan partner organizations, Wangki Tangni, CADPI, and CADAMUC. They will distribute supplies directly to those most devastated by Hurricane Felix.

Long-Term Impact

Immediate support will save lives and empower survivors to undertake the long process of rebuilding their homes, livelihoods, and communities.
