A New School, Restored Confidence & A Big Win

By Mel | Individual Giving Coordinator

For years, early childhood education in Kupang Timur was a story of pure resilience. PAUD Benih Bangsa operated out of a makeshift church space with walls made of woven bamboo, a cracked concrete floor, and a bare tin roof. The single room was dangerously overcrowded, forcing 61 young children to cram together without proper ventilation, sanitation, or play areas. The harsh environment eroded the children's confidence, leaving many feeling embarrassed and reluctant to attend.

Everything changed when Happy Hearts Indonesia, together with generous donors like you, rebuilt PAUD Benih Bangsa from the ground up, replacing the fragile structure with a safe, fully equipped, and dignified learning environment.

The new facility delivered immediate, tangible results:

  1. Relief from Overcrowding: Today, 63 children learn and play comfortably in well-ventilated, spacious classrooms equipped with proper learning materials, furniture, and clean sanitation.
  2. Restored Self-Esteem & Achievements: A bright, welcoming environment reignited the children's joy for learning. Demonstrating this newfound confidence, PAUD student Josephine won 1st Place in the Sub-district Coloring Competition for Independence Day 2026, competing against roughly 200 children.

"In the past, our learning space was tiny, children were crammed together, and some were embarrassed to come to school. But after receiving the new building from Happy Hearts Indonesia, everything changed. The children became far more confident, comfortable, and excited to learn every day." - Marthen Yos Manafe, Principal of PAUD Benih Bangsa

Together with generous donors like you, Happy Hearts Indonesia did more than rebuild a school, serving as a catalyst for community hope, restoring pride to the village and giving 63 young learners a safe foundation to dream big.
