By Drithi Kumari | Girls ahead student
HI Everyone
This report is from Drithi a girls ahead student, we have changed her name only according to our protocols ..this is all her own words..
Namaste
My name is Drithi
I am now 17 years of age and I am studying computer sciences at Gaya College
How I got there is because of People First…
People First run a free of cost brilliant community school near my home village.
It offers a high standard of education to those whom otherwise could not afford it
But what makes it extra special for girls is the girls ahead programme which supports girls through their education through home visits, provision of materials, and financial educational support.
Teachers persuaded my parents not to marry me and let me complete my education through a system of “girl education bonds, “where an agreement is reached between all concerned (including me!) to ensure that I am able to complete my education.
I am the first person in my family to receive an education to this level.
But it also gives me freedom.
Once I turn 18, I can decide to pursue a career and choose when I will get married and when I decide I ca discuss with my husband to be all options in order that I may continue my career.
This programme deserves your support.
I thank you so much for your kindness and compassion. A girl can be supported in her education for as little as $20 a month
Thank you for giving me my freedom .
Drithi
