Needs Map is an online platform that brings people in need together with the supporters. It acts for Inequality, Economic and social poverty, Neglection of local economy due to centralized humanitarian assistance, Lack of coordination and use of unsustainable methods in humanitarian response. It facilitates cooperation and solidarity in different areas such as education, health, culture and arts through verified geospatial data technology and community-based verification functionality.
The problem that we are trying to solve is an intertwined one: (i) economic and social inequality to reach the opportunities and (ii) neglection of local economic development through centralized humanitarian aid. The problems of conventional/centralized ways of humanitarian aid acts have become even more obvious during the pandemic era. Such solutions are not efficient, fast, effective, inclusive and green enough to respond to current social problems in a holistic way.
Needs Map focuses on poverty reduction, humanitarian assistance and disasters. Needs Map aims to support local economic development and solve the problem of economic and social inequality at the stage of access to opportunities through humanitarian aid. It contributes to strengthening the solidarity and trusting environment among people and to revive local/global partnerships.
Need Map aims to mobilize local people to support their own communities, rather than to mobilise support from one big city to somewhere in rural. Therefore, the map enables the users to check the needs on neighbourhood-basis with addresses detailed to even street names. Need Map brings transparency and visualises street level data in terms of need and support and makes it possible to act accordingly.
