Immediate Support for Families in Ukraine: Providing Relief After Tragedy and Loss

By Marharyta | Customer Experience Manager

Families in Ukraine face unimaginable challenges, yet their resilience shines through. Olena and her 10-year-old daughter, Varya, are one of the many families your support has helped.

In 2023, Olena's husband, Yevgen, tragically lost his life while defending Ukraine against russian military aggression. Left to care for their young daughter alone, Olena was left to take care of Varya on her own, facing serious financial struggles. The Foundation stepped in with immediate assistance, providing food, clothing, and a used laptop for Varya, who had just advanced to 5th grade and needed a device for her studies.

In November 2024, tragedy struck again when a missile destroyed their home. Acting on a timely warning, Olena and Varya took shelter in their corridor moments before impact, narrowly escaping harm. While they survived unscathed, they lost almost everything—their apartment, personal belongings, and a car that reminded them of Yevgen. Even family photos and gifts from Varya’s father were gone. Despite the devastation, the family’s beloved cat, Tosha, miraculously survived, bringing them a small but cherished comfort. Varyusha calls him her little brother.

In response to this heartbreaking situation, the Foundation provided urgent relief to help the family recover:

  • Immediate Assistance: Delivered essential items, including food, stationery, clothing, and a sports suit for Varya.
  • Financial Support: Covered three months of rent for a temporary apartment and enabled the purchase of vital items, such as a desk, chair, laptop, charging station, and clothing.
  • Emotional Care: Support included thoughtful gifts for Varya, like pajamas, colored pens, and personal items that brought her moments of joy amid the challenges.

This comprehensive support gave Olena and Varya a foundation to begin rebuilding their lives during an incredibly difficult time.

Your contributions make this work possible. Through your generosity, families like Olena’s receive not only immediate aid but also hope and comfort. Together, we’re helping Ukraine’s children and their caregivers navigate the road to recovery and renewal.

Thank you for standing with Ukraine’s children. Your continued support ensures we can provide life-changing assistance when it’s needed most.
