Why Toilet for one poor Family?

By Jean Damascene Uwizeyimana | Project Leader

Dear Patrons,

Thank you so much for all the support that you have provided so far for our Rwanda Toilets Construction for Poor Families Project.

We do appreciate that you have donated the funds that we used to construct 6 toilets we have completed the construction and officially donated to six of the families and we are requesting immediate funds to constrict 10 toilets, the construction could have been started in the beginning of August, but we are delaying to start due to funds We need US$5000 as an immediate expense so that we can go ahead with the work and construct 10 toilets.

Why this project is needed?

Health Risks: Without access to proper sanitation facilities, poor families are at a higher risk of waterborne diseases such as diarrhea, cholera, and typhoid.

Hygiene and Dignity: Lack of toilets lead to poor hygiene practices, including open defecation, which not only affects the health of individuals but also undermines their dignity and self-respect.

Environmental Pollution: Open defecation contributes to environmental pollution, contaminating soil and water sources with fecal matter.

Economic Burden: Poor health resulting from inadequate sanitation imposes a significant economic burden on families and the healthcare system. Families may incur medical expenses for treating preventable diseases, and caregivers may lose income due to illness or caring for sick family members.

Social Stigma: Communities without access to toilets may face social stigma and discrimination, as access to sanitation is often associated with socioeconomic status and dignity. This stigma can further marginalize already vulnerable populations and hinder their access to opportunities for social and economic development.

We request you to donate or start a monthly recurring donation for our project which will help us with our ongoing work. We thank you for everything that you have offered so far for our project, and we look forward to your continued support.

Thanks and Best Regards
