Challenge

High rate maternal and newborn mortality associated with poor sexual reproductive health and rights of adolescents and youths in Cross River State is quite alarming. Poverty, ignorance, and near absence of availability of reproductive health commodities and consumables as well as lack of access to proper information and services has played a strong role in militating against the lives of pregnant women and girls in Cross River State.

Solution

This project aims at implementing an evidence-based/community-based set of interventions to mitigate this negative trend. The outcome is to promote positive maternal newborn and sexual reproductive health service uptake and the use of best practices in Family Planning/Reproductive Health as well as to address the three delays associated with maternal and newborn mortality and the poor sexual reproductive health indices within the Central Senatorial district of Cross River State.

Long-Term Impact

This project will lead to reduction in unplanned/unwanted pregnancies, maternal and newborn mortality ratios, support the girl child education, address gender-based violence, strengthen community action and involve all stakeholders. Conclusively, sensitize 8,000 community members, support 100 girls with sanitary pads,1000 in-school youths sensitized,Support 100 pregnant women access Emergency Transport services; 600 young girls & WRA access Family Planning services within supported communities.
