Sweet Mother Program educates, provides micronutrients, birthing kits and equips pregnant and nursing mothers in hard to reach communities in Nigeria with maternal and child health skills.
Nigeria has a high rate of poverty and illiteracy. It has made many mothers and newborns undernourished, especially on hard to reach communities. Malnutrition in-turn has led to a high rate of maternal and child death. But maternal education that equips mothers with life-skills and health resources can improve health outcomes. The provision of micronutrients, birthing kits and more have improved health outcomes of mothers and their newborns in communities where we work.
Sweet Mother Program empowers mothers with simple, easy to use, free health resources and life-skills to ensure safe motherhood and healthy children. It uses a 1-hour monthly entertainment-education program using talks, dance, songs and research question and answer sessions, experience sharing and demonstrations of methods and life skills. Sweet Mother Program and Sweet Mother App removes socio-cultural and environmental barriers to health in the language best understood by the people.
Sweet Mother Program educates pregnant women and nursing mothers on maternal and child health. It will ensure safe motherhood, healthy children and an excellent start to life for newborns. A healthy mother gives birth to a healthy child, thereby reducing the cost of health care and increase funds available for economic activities. A healthy child grows up to work and improves family income.
