TLC-Cambodia seeks support for advanced lithium batteries to power our off-grid floating clinics for lake communities. These batteries are crucial for consistent operation of life-saving equipment and essential clinic functions, especially post-sunset. Lithium batteries are more efficient and durable than current lead-acid batteries, reducing costs and ensuring uninterrupted healthcare. We aim to raise $15,950 for this vital update.
In a solar-powered off-grid setting, clinics struggle to sustain power for essential equipment. The inadequacy of traditional lead-acid batteries is exacerbated by the region's extreme heat, leading to shorter lifespan and slower charging. This affects critical medical operations during emergency cases after sundown.
Lithium batteries provide a superior alternative with higher energy density, longer service life, and faster charging. This ensures consistent power for medical equipment, even after multiple cloudy days.
By investing in lithium batteries, we reinforce our dedication to sustainable healthcare. Though the upfront cost may appear steep, one lithium battery can power a clinic as effectively as eight standard deep-cycle solar batteries. Their efficiency and reliability will diminish long-term expenses, fortifying our operational capabilities and preserving uninterrupted healthcare for remote communities.
