At the request of three communities in its area of operation, the NGO CAV is proposing to implement a support project to improve access to water sources and to upgrade a health center. This project includes the installation of four boreholes and one sanitation block. It will contribute to improving the health of the population in the beneficiary communities, estimated at 21,629 inhabitants, by providing them with sufficient quantities of quality water year-round.
The challenges faced by these communities are generally as follows: the water used in these areas often comes from open wells and contaminated rivers and ponds, leading to waterborne and parasitic diseases such as malaria (the leading cause of morbidity and mortality in these communities), diarrhea, and typhoid fever.
By proposing the following activities: 1. Raise community awareness to better understand the project's challenges and risks; 2. Undertake drilling and water analysis activities; 3. Provide equipment and install the mechanical and manual water supply system; 4. Construct the sanitation block; 5. Construct the borehole superstructure; 6. Support the community in establishing Water and Latrine Committees; 7. Strengthen the Water Committee's capacity in the maintenance, management, and monitoring of
This project will have the following impacts: 1. A sustainable solution to the problem of water sources drying up during the dry season 2. Prevention of waterborne diseases 3. Improved public health
