Challenge

Reproductive Health is high on Ugandan Agenda, adolescents are the future of the nation, the group constitute 30% of the population-increasingly getting involved in production-reproduction. The SRH behaviour of adolescents is often influenced by factors within themselves; knowledge, skills/attitudes, perceptions, poverty; culture, religion exert significant influence on them. The services present are inadequate in coverage, quality, lacks specific focus on meeting ASRH needs inadequate awareness

Solution

The project aim is to consolidate reproductive health knowledge among rural communities targeting adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) to support demystification of Sexual Reproductive Health (SRH) myths, misconceptions, increase awareness of SRHR. Focusing on Family Planning, STIs, antenatal and postnatal services, use of modern contraceptives for dual protection against STIs & unwanted pregnancies among 3200 AGYW

Long-Term Impact

Increased access, use of antenatal and postnatal services by 20% & the number of youths receiving SRH services increase by 15% by Dec 2021. Created and strengthened a multi-stakeholder local platform, referral network to advance dissemination of information & access to SRH services by the end of the project. The sustainability is guaranteed as the project will use already existing structures in the communities, build the capacity of the community to sustain the services provided by this project.
