It gives me immense pleasure to announce that Customs Health Care Society (CHCS) has been empowering women/ widows (specifically) in Thar under its project "Income Generation Scheme for Women of Thar" since its initiation. This new idea has not only been appreciated by the local community of Thar but also by our respected Donors from all over the globe.
Under this project, widows from Thar were initially identified and registered by CHCS. During the first phase, 50 widows of Thar have been handed over goats; enabling them to start earning livelihood for their children/ families. During last three months, more than 40 goats have been provided to poor women of Thar who have been feeding their malnourished children with the milk of goats. Moreover, it is also contributing in their income as goats breed twice a year.
However, it is pertinent to mention that this project is getting lukewarm response from the donors. It is further added that in the coming days, CHCS intends to deliver goats to one women from each family, thus, thus uplifting the socio-economic condition of Thar in general and women of Thar in particular.
In light of the above, donors from all over the globe are requested to donate generously to this project so that CHCS may empower more women in Thar.
