Income Generation Scheme for Women of Thar.
Respected Donors,
Season Greetings...!
It gives me immense pleasure to intimate you that the vital initiative undertaken by the Customs Health Care Society (CHCS) aimed at providing sustainable livelihood opportunities for the impoverished women of Tharparkar in Sindh, Pakistan. Tharparkar, situated in a remote and isolated region, is plagued by high levels of poverty, malnutrition, and physical weakness among its womenfolk. This dire situation often leads to the birth of malnourished children who are vulnerable to disease and premature death.
Recognizing the urgent need to address this issue, CHCS initiated a project to empower the women of Tharparkar by providing them with goats. Despite encountering challenges in garnering substantial donor support, CHCS remains steadfast in its commitment to this cause. Through collaboration with local donors, CHCS continues to distribute goats to impoverished women in Tharparkar.
The provision of goats serves a dual purpose: it not only ensures a regular supply of milk for the women and their children, thus addressing their nutritional needs but also offers a sustainable source of income. Given the reproductive cycle of goats, which allows them to breed twice a year, the project creates economic opportunities for women to support their families. This project has not so far attracted donors in large numbers. All donors are requested to lend their support to CHCS in expanding this impactful initiative, enabling more impoverished women in Tharparkar to benefit from the provision of goats.
Warm regards,
Dr. Asif Mahmood Jah, Project Leader
