Access to clean water & sanitation progress report

By Sano. Mashako. | Project Leader.

Training on the importance of hygiene & sanitation
Training on the importance of hygiene & sanitation

This report will summarise the progress made for the months of April, May and June. During this time several training sessions, community activities and WASH refill centre upgrades were done.

We carried out training sessions among young boys and girls on the importance of proper sanitation and hygiene at home and the benefits of drinking safe and clean water, with 57 total people who were present. We also did community awareness on the availability of clean and safe water at the ngao foundation to drink. We are also in the process of building Two female-friendly latrines in the informal settlement schools to improve sanitation for over 412 girls and women in these institutions discussions are currently going on.

There is also an ongoing upgrade on the WASH refill centre so that it can be standardised leading to the organisation supplying water to markets and creating at least 7 refill centres in other towns by the end of the year. This will increase awareness on the project and also it will benefit many people in different areas. Young men also took the initiative to clean the community.

Challenges.

The main challenge to this program is the insufficient funding, people are in dire need to know about what WASH entails so conducting activities and training sessions have been a challenge. We are still urging you to support us in order to reach our target and provide clean water to those who are in vulnerable conditions.
