This report illustrates the progress made during the months of May June and July. During this period we implemented the handwashing program in three different primary schools in Kangemi informal settlements. They include Kangemi youth primary school, Morning Star Elite Academy and Sweet Angels School.  The aim of this program is to promote WASH practices among school-going children and create awareness on the importance of drinking safe and clean drinking water.

60 W.A.S.H ambassadors among these three schools were chosen and trained on how to wash their hands, methods of treating water and the benefits of drinking treated water They shall spread the knowledge acquired in schools, their homes and community events. On 1st June, The organisation also donated a fully functional modern washroom facility to the morning star Academy. This was done in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Westlands, the facility will serve 147 children from the school and the sanitation in this school will be improved, creating a better conducive learning environment.

The household refills increased by 139 an improvement from the previous report. The uptake of treated water continues to increase in terms of both geographical coverage and new clients. June, July and August are cold months in Kenya so it is expected that the number of water refills will reduce.

CHALLENGES.

Children in schools lack clean water and when water is available most schools do not have facilities such as tanks for water storage so it creates an unhealthy environment for children to focus on their school work. Please consider making a donation to this project in order to purchase 2 storage for these children
