We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our donors for your continued support and unwavering commitment to The NGAO Foundation’s WASH program, Water for Community and Everyone. Your generosity fuels our mission to ensure access to clean, safe drinking water and proper sanitation for all. Water is life, and with your help, we are making it a reality for communities in need.
The significance of water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) is emphasized in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 6), underscoring its critical role in public health and sustainable development. The NGAO Foundation is dedicated to ensuring that people in our communities have access to clean water and essential hygiene services.
Key Activity Highlights
Impact: Over the past four months, we have provided clean and safe drinking water to 2,047 households. This initiative has:
o Enhanced water quality in homes, significantly reducing waterborne diseases.
o Fostered community ownership of the WASH project, strengthening the commitment to clean water consumption.
Activity: Outreach efforts to install water filtration systems in schools and communities.
Impact: Our recent assessment at Mission Maasai focused on the water borehole in Empukani, where we collected and analyzed water samples to identify impurities.
o The results will inform the development of a tailored water filtration solution, ensuring continuous access to clean water.
o Improved health outcomes for students and families, reducing absenteeism in schools due to water-related illnesses.
o Provided safe and clean drinking water for the nearby community dispensary, enhancing healthcare services.
Activity: Planning and conducting educational sessions focused on sanitation and hygiene practices.
Impact: A recent oral hygiene training session by Logan provided each child with a toothbrush and toothpaste, leading to:
o Increased awareness of the importance of oral health among children.
o Encouragement of better hygiene practices at home, fostering overall community health as children shared the lessons learned with their families.
Activity: On November 23, 2024, we organized a community event titled "Kicking it for WASH" at Uhuru Gardens Primary School, in collaboration with Friends of Love Kibera Slums (FOLKS) and The Centre of Love Foundation (TCOLF).
Impact:
o The soccer tournament celebrated teamwork and highlighted the importance of clean water and sanitation.
o Successfully engaged students, teachers, and community members, reinforcing the message of WASH through a fun and interactive platform.
Conclusion
The NGAO Foundation's WASH initiatives are transforming lives by providing immediate access to clean water and improving sanitation practices. This progress is paving the way for lasting public health improvements and stronger, healthier communities.
