YES, IT IS HAPPENING

By Anthony Richard Hulula | Director/Project Leader

Olympic Primary School WASH Project
Olympic Primary School WASH Project

Dear Friends, Supporters, and Partners,

We are overjoyed to share with you this exciting update: YES, IT IS HAPPENING—and it’s happening because of you!

Over the past few months, with your unwavering support and the partnership of several Rotary Clubs from District 5450, Denver, Colorado, USA, The NGAO Foundation has successfully implemented a large-scale WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) project at Olympic Primary and Junior Secondary School, located deep in the heart of the Kibera Slum—one of the most underserved communities in Nairobi, Kenya.

What We’ve Achieved Together

With your generous contributions, we were able to deliver life-changing infrastructure and access to safe, clean drinking water. Here's what your support made possible:

  1. Installation of a Reverse Osmosis (RO) Water Filtration System – Capable of filtering up to 2,000 liters of water per hour, ensuring clean, purified water is available throughout the day.
  2. Two 10,000-Liter Raw Water Storage Tanks – Providing consistent access to untreated water for filtration.
  3. Two 10,000-Liter Clean Water Tanks – Safely storing the filtered water for school use.
  4.  Five Drinking Water Point Sinks – Strategically placed across the school to ensure ease of access for students and staff.

Who’s Benefiting

This transformative WASH system is now actively serving:

5,384 Students at Olympic Primary and Junior Secondary School

Teaching and Non-Teaching Staff

v   Community Members through future water sales

In addition to improved health outcomes, the school now has the potential to generate revenue by selling filtered water to the surrounding community, helping sustain system maintenance and contributing to broader school development.

Impact on Health & Hygiene

Before this project, children relied on unsafe and often contaminated water sources. Since commissioning the system on May 31st, 2025, reported cases of waterborne illness in the school have dropped to less than 0.01%—a truly life-changing outcome.

Children are healthier, more energized, and better able to concentrate in class. Teachers and parents have expressed immense relief and gratitude. This is a ripple effect of change, and you made it possible.

What’s Next

The need is still great. Five more schools within Kibera and neighboring informal settlements have reached out, requesting support for similar WASH interventions. These schools collectively serve over 22,000 children, all of whom currently drink unfiltered, unsafe water.

We are committed to reaching them—and we can, with your continued support.

Thank You and Call to Action
