By Anthony Richard Hulula | Director/Project Leader
On behalf of the NGAO Foundation and the Maasai community of Oloishorua, Kibiko, Kajiado County, we extend our deepest gratitude for your unwavering support. Your generosity is doing much more than funding a project—it is restoring dignity, improving health, creating opportunities, and giving hope to families who have lived for generations without reliable access to clean water.
Because of your partnership, a dream that once seemed impossible is now transforming lives every day. Children are spending more time in school instead of walking long distances to fetch water. Women have more time to care for their families and engage in income-generating activities. Entire households are experiencing the security that comes from having safe water close to home.
Together, we are gaining momentum in the community.
Introduction
The NGAO Foundation's Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) Program continues to advance public health and sustainable community development by expanding access to clean and safe drinking water across Kenya.
Through community-led initiatives, we empower children, youth, and women with the skills, resources, and knowledge they need to build healthier and more resilient communities.
This quarter reflects remarkable progress toward achieving long-term water security and sustainable WASH practices in Oloishorua and the surrounding villages.

Program Activities This Quarter
1. Community Engagement at Osupuko Primary School
We launched an introductory engagement session at Osupuko Primary School in Oloishorua to present the NGAO Foundation's mission, current WASH initiatives, and future community programs.
This meeting strengthened relationships with school leadership and local stakeholders while laying a strong foundation for future collaboration.
A significant milestone was achieved when the County Chief formally endorsed our work through a signed letter of support. This recognition now enables the Foundation to engage schools throughout the county and expand our educational outreach.
2. Oloishorua Borehole Project: Turning Hope into Reality
Access to safe water has long been one of the greatest challenges facing this community. Thanks to your support, that challenge is being overcome.
During this quarter, we completed the drilling and development of a 320-meter borehole and installed the supporting infrastructure needed to ensure a reliable water supply.
Completed works include:
Families who once walked many kilometers for water can now access clean, safe water close to home.
This achievement received international recognition when Rotary International featured the project in its People of Action Magazine, highlighting the impact made possible through the generosity of donors and partners like you.
3. Building Sustainability Through Community Leadership
To ensure accountability and long-term success, the Foundation established a seven-member Community WASH Committee.
The committee is responsible for:
By placing leadership in the hands of the community, we are strengthening local ownership and ensuring that these investments will continue benefiting future generations.
4. Kick It for WASH Football Tournament
On 25 April 2026, the Foundation successfully organized the "Kick It for WASH" Football Tournament, bringing together sport and social change.
Five teams participated:
Between matches, participants received practical WASH education focusing on:
The tournament demonstrated that sport can be a powerful platform for education, unity, and community transformation.
5. World Menstrual Health Day
On 28 May 2026, the NGAO Foundation partnered with The Centre of Love Foundation to commemorate World Menstrual Health Day.
More than 100 women and girls participated in a safe and supportive environment where they learned, shared experiences, and challenged the stigma surrounding menstruation.
We are sincerely grateful to our partners, facilitators, and volunteers who helped make this event a success.
6. Alumni Giving Back: Oral Hygiene Session
One of the most inspiring moments this quarter came from Vivian Moseti, an alumna of the NGAO Foundation's education and mentorship program.
Vivian returned to her community to facilitate an oral hygiene awareness session, demonstrating the long-term impact of investing in young people who later become community leaders themselves.

Water sales fluctuated during the quarter due to the rapid increase in local water vending stations. Many consumers choose convenience over quality.
To address this challenge, we are preparing community awareness campaigns and educational materials highlighting the quality of our filtration process and the safety standards maintained by the NGAO Foundation.
Recognition and Milestones
We are deeply honored that Rotary International recognized our borehole initiative through a feature in its People of Action Magazine.
This recognition belongs to every donor, volunteer, community leader, and partner who believed that access to clean water could transform lives.
Every contribution—large or small—has helped create a healthier and more hopeful future for families in Oloishorua.
The Humanitarian Impact
Today, more than 1,500 people directly benefit from this project.
The intervention has produced immediate and measurable change:
This is the impact of community-driven development supported by compassionate people around the world.
Looking Ahead
The momentum continues.
Our next major initiative will be the largest "Kick It for WASH" tournament to date, scheduled for 8 August 2026.
We expect participation from:
The event will strengthen WASH education, celebrate community champions, and deepen partnerships that will sustain this work for years to come.
In addition, we are preparing to extend piped water distribution to approximately 50 households surrounding the Centre, ensuring that the benefits of this project continue to grow.
