With this project, INOTEF will be able to visit schools and disadvantaged communities offering workshops and art therapy experiences to populations including children, youth, adults and the elderly. Through which diverse mental health needs will be addressed with a focus on resilience. Likewise, the project will allow the mobilization of INOTEF staff to the communities in case of natural disasters such as earthquakes or hurricanes.
Hurricanes Irma and Maria raised the need for families with limited income to have access to quality services. Particularly in a scenario where poverty reigns among Puerto Rican children. It was identified that in 2017, 57.8% of minors on the island were living under the poverty levels. Therefore, the provision of quality psychosocial services in the communities is vital to achieving the full development of people.
The care provided to more vulnerable populations such as children, youth and the elderly makes INOTEF an organization of social relevance. The investment requested will enable children and adolescents to develop skills that will allow them to develop as responsible and productive citizens. These skills will help them break the cycle of poverty and achieve economic stability in their adult lives.
The project will impact 300 children and 100 elderly, who through the services in the communities will obtain tools for the management of emotions and self-knowledge.
