Every day, thousands of Nigerian children risk preventable illnesses because their schools lack handwashing facilities. Your support will install 60 durable, foot-operated stations in 15 primary schools, reaching over 3,000 children. Paired with hygiene training, this project saves lives, reduces absenteeism, and instills lifelong healthy habits-turning schools into community models of cleanliness.
Overcrowded schools often lack basic hygiene infrastructure, exposing children to diarrhea, typhoid, and flu. These illnesses force students to miss school, harm learning, and create costly medical bills for families. Without urgent intervention, children remain at high risk. Simple handwashing could prevent up to half of diarrhea-related absences, yet access to proper facilities is rare.
We will install four foot-operated "tippy-tap" or Veronica bucket stations per school at toilets and eating areas, each with soap for daily use. Student hygiene monitors and teachers will be trained to lead routines and integrate hygiene lessons into classrooms. This hands-on approach ensures children develop consistent, lifelong handwashing habits while schools model best practices for the wider community.
