Prioritizing Self-Sustaining Projects from Santa Clara

Initial phases of construction of the Piscigranja

As a part of the transitioning the Permaculture Site to the Community of Santa Clara, we are working with the Santa Clara Youth Association to provide technical expertise for the natural fish farm, or Piscigranja. The Santa Clara Youth Association identified the Piscigranja as a project to complement the Permaculture work that Alianza Arkana has been supporting. After working with past volunteers on project development and management skills, the Santa Clara Youth Association came to Alianza Arkana with the idea, plan, and team to build the fish farm with the priority of establishing a sustainable economic opportunity and food security for the community.

The project has support from the community leaders of Santa Clara and we are very happy to be supporting this community led initiative with technical support and direction from Marcos Urquía, our permaculture director.
