Summary

The understanding that recovery from the trauma of genocide and crimes against humanity is a multi-generational effort has always been the backbone of 3 Generations. We will deepen our focus on Intergenerational Activism. Help 3 Generations record and share the stories of courageous intergenerational Native American and Indigenous women and girls, raise awareness of their ongoing struggles, bring to light their triumphs, and demand change.

Challenge

Human vulnerability is the connective thread that binds all the issues we focus on. The challenge is for us to recognize that there is an ongoing human rights crisis and to find and provide hope. With each generation, there is always opportunity for growth, learning, and healing from the traumas passed down. Today's youth are fiercely carrying the torch and shining light on where trauma lives in the dark, in order to build new pathways for today and generations to come.

Solution

3 Generations work of listening to and recording courageous Native women for more than a decade has shown us that a new generation of women has risen to transform this painful landscape. We create professionally produced, thoughtful, short films, & videos. We produced two short films, Lost Hope and Native Silence. Our feature is A Different American Dream. We partner with organizations doing effective direct service or advocacy work to develop content & encourage focused action to end suffering.

Long-Term Impact

Our strategy creates national impact and supports long-term change within Native communities. We focus on the broader issues of generational trauma and gender-based violence against Native women to draw attention to their particular needs, with an emphasis on amplifying their voices to point to solutions that work for their communities. As we continue engaging with intergenerational Native women, we stand in solidarity to carve pathways forward, with an abundance of hope and eagerness to learn.
