According to the WHO, approximately 400,000 children are living with cancer worldwide. Unlike the case of adults, the causes of most cases of childhood cancer are unknown. In 1991, Fundacion Nuestros Hijos was founded in Chile, an initiative created by parents of cancer patients. On this Childhood Cancer Day, Fundacion Nuestros Hijos calls parents to be aware of the symptoms that their children may present, emphasizing that early detection is essential for timely treatment.

In 1991, the Nuestros Hijos Foundation was founded in Chile, an initiative created by parents of cancer patients. In its 31 years of operation, the institution has supported around 20 thousand children and adolescents and their families. This support consists of the use of the Oncology Rehabilitation Center, oncology units and the shelter for those families who come from the regions or who have difficulties in traveling to the care centers.
On this Childhood Cancer Day, Fundacion Nuestros Hijos calls parents to be aware of the symptoms that their children may present, emphasizing that early detection is essential for timely treatment. As well, they call on society to strengthen support for families going through this affliction, promoting the comprehensive rehabilitation of all patients, regardless of their socioeconomic situation.
