The IGLYO Activist Academy is a dynamic, skills-based training programme designed for young queer activists aged 18-30 who are at the beginning of their activism journeys. It brings together passionate young people eager to develop their skills, engage in a cross-cultural setting, and strengthen their work within the LGBTQI movement.
This year, the Academy was hosted by IGLYO Member Transfeminiinit in Tampere, Finland. The programme had a specific focus on LGBTQI organisational development and provided participants with the tools to build and strengthen LGBTQI initiatives, improving their effectiveness and adaptability. We covered areas such as strategic planning, change management, fundraising, partnership building, volunteer and team management, leadership, decision-making, governance, internal policies, and more.
We welcomed 25 LGBTQI young people between 18-30 years old from 22 countries across the European region. All had the opportunity to attend parallel sessions on different topics, receiving deeper insights into key areas in relation to organisational development. We explored how to mainstream crucial issues such as anti-racism and trans and intersex rights, among others, into organisational structures and practices.
A huge hank you to all participants and to our local Member and host Transfeminiinit for their being so welcoming and for their outstanding work in the co-organisation of the Academy. We also thank our wonderful experts and speakers, all IGLYO team members who worked hard to make this edition an unforgettable one.
And a very special thanks to you, our amazing donors, for helping us to bring more LGBTQI young people to this crucial event!
We already look forward to the next one.
