Story of a 15 year old girl from El Salvador
The young lady is 15 years old and is the oldest of 3 siblings. Her father works in the fields and makes about $60 per month. Since he doesn´t make very much money her mother has to go to work at 4:00 in the morning every day in a clothing store. Their standard of living is not that great. Although the house is made of cement blocks it is not in very good condition.
Because of the conditions that the family was living in the God´s Child Project admitted the three children to the program. The children stand out in school because of their good grades and behavior and they have made the most of the support that the Project has given them such as rice, beans, clothes, shoes and most importantly a scholarship so that they can improve their lives through education.
The oldest girl is not just a good student but also a big help to her family. She and her youngest sister walk 25 minutes every afternoon to get to a mill and help their grandmother sell tortillas and as they walk there they search for any type of material that they can recycle and sell. The two sisters also have done well in beauty competitions and they are always collaborative and participative.
Despite all the problems that they face each day the family is very thankful for the help that they receive each month from the Project since without that help it would be very hard for them to continue their education and have a professional trade in the future.
