El Salvador is a country with a lot of violence and a few job opportunities. For this reason, Wendy's father had to be in gangs, just to be able to support his family. They are from a very poor community in Guazapa, El Salvador, in this community there is a lot of crime and little government support for them.
Asociacion Nuestros Ahijados started giving financial support to this family when knew about the living conditions that they were living at, but specially to Wendy, Alexander and Verónica, in order to motivate them to continue studying and not following their father example and enter in the gangs. They began to receive the help from 2010; with this help they were able to reach out some of their dreams and goals as individuals and family.
Besides, the scholarship, they also have the benefits like clothes, shoes, medicine and food every month. Thanks to the support received from Asociación Nuestros Ahijados, Veronica was able to finish middle school and is currently studying at the University. Alexander, also finished middle school, but he did not continue studying because he decided to start working and help his siblings and family. Wendy is studying high school and will be graduating this year. She would love to keep going and study at the University as her sister, Verónica.
This has been a family of many that Asociación Nuestros Ahijados has rescue from gangs and has given them the opportunity to study to break the bitter chains of poverty and become in better and successful persons. They are very grateful for the help that is given to them every month, since without this support they were not had been able to change their lives and build a better future.
