Melany is currently studying sixth grade at Delfina Diaz Municipal School of El Salvador, and has been a part of The GOD´S CHILD Project for six years.
Melany has survived many difficult situations especially those that have affected her personal health and the health of her mother. Melany frequently becomes ill and has a severe allergic reaction on her scalp, and if not treated quickly it becomes a fungus infection. Just as it had when she first became a part of the program.
When she was first brought to the project's office she had been suffering from a very rapidly spreading fungus infection that originated on her scalp and had moved down to her face. She was immediately treated at the clinic and provided the appropriate medications to help clear up the fungus quickly allowing her a full recovery. During the same meeting she was enrolled into the program allowing her, her brother, and parents to receive benefits including education, food, and medical care.
She quickly became interested in studying and grasped concepts very quickly as the star of her class. She is always excited to tell people about how she wants to be a civil engineer when she grows up. But her reason why is what always makes our staff smile, “I want to take my family forward, bring them to a better way of life, show them that we too can make it, and chase our dreams like our teachers say.”
Melany is always happy to lend a hand and help her family in anything that she can, especially her mother. Every day before school she helps her mother get things ready for the day including cleaning up the house, cooking, and taking care of her brother. This is important especially now as her mother has been diagnosed with uterine cancer, and all the support from Melany helps her be able to rest and recover. Melany´s help paired with the financial support for the household expenses by The GOD´S CHILD Project helps to keep the family together and healthy.
We always look forward to hearing about how Melany is chasing her dreams, helping her family, and truly embracing her new opportunities thanks to the generosity you as donors have allowed into her life. We hope you enjoyed this brief look into her world and will consider sharing her story with your family and friends as well.
