SUPPORTING A FAMILY DREAM
Carlos is a 22 year old young man who has belonging to our program in El Salvador for eight years. He has been characterized as a responsible, hardworking and very willing person, with his twin brother and his other siblings. He started to receive help from Asociación Nuestros Ahijados because his family conditions were very bad.
The father abandoned the family leaving them under the care of the mother. The mother worked as a housekeeper to be able to support the basic needs of her children, when Asociación Nuestros Ahijados knew about their situation immediately gave them the opportunity to be part of the program and have many benefits such as clothing, shoes, food and most importantly, financial help to continue studying.
Thanks to the support provided by the program in El Salvador Carlos was able to complete his studies in high school where he was able to graduate as well as his twin brother. His younger siblings are still receiving support from Asociación Nuestros Ahijados and each family member continues receiving food every month.
Currently, Carlos is supporting his mother. Most of the time he works as part of Maintenance staff in offices, earning a monthly salary of $ 70.00; which is not enough to cover all the expenses of his family. The mother also works in the same area earning a similar salary of Carlos, and that is how they both split the expenses to be able to provide the basic to the other children.
The family is very grateful for all the support they have received during these years from Asociación Nuestros Ahijados, since without this help it would have been difficult for them to get ahead.
