This project will empower and employ vulnerable youth and women from Devashtich District of Tajikistan. The IT Lab will be established in the School No 10 of Ghazantarak Village, which kindly allocated two classrooms for free. It will conduct courses on SMM, web design, programming and entrepreneurship to promote digital economy in remote areas of Tajikistan and employment of youth and women from vulnerable families. The EBRD Community Initiative will match all funding raised for this project.
Disregard the rapid digitalization the rural youth and women still lag behind the development pace. This is particularly noticed in remote areas of Tajikistan, which are mountainous suffering from the lack of access to the rest of the world. Our analysis shows the availability of a great potential for digital development through the use of youth and women's potential. However, these youth and women do not have access to adequate resources to unlock their potential.
The project will establish an IT Lab in the School No 10 of Ghazantarak Village. The IT Lab will its equipment and resources will be offering courses on SMM, web design, entrepreneurship skills, financial literacy and digitalization to vulnerable groups of youth and women, who, in turn, will be able to get empowered and employed by using the knowledge and expertise they gained at the center. The Center will also collaborate with existing business incubators and IT parks of the country.
The youth and women - beneficiaries of the project will be empowered and employed with the use of the lifelong skills on SMM, web design, entrepreneurship, financial literacy, digitalization, human rights, accountability, and transparency they gain during the courses offered by the Center. This, in turn, will lead to financial independence and sustainability of the youth and women as beneficiaries of the project.
