Celebrating Our Tenth Birthday!

By Morgan Domijan | Fundraising Coordinator

First, we want to say a big thank you to everyone who has been a part of our ten year journey! This month we celebrated our tenth birthday and we are all so amazed where our journey has lead us. The Jambiani Center is constantly filled with passionate and dedicated learners due to the center creating a peaceful, conducive space for learning.

These past months have been filled with more improvements. We painted our African Impact name in huge letters on the back wall of the Community Center, just in time for the tenth birthday celebration! Additionally, we built and painted an African Impact sign to display on the road, so anyone who is interested in joining our classes, knows exactly where to come. We are hopeful for more learners to join soon!

Next, we have purchased and installed enough rain protections – 15 of them! – to be able to close our school after hours and protect our beautiful desks and easels from rain or weather damage. This is just in time for rainy season and was an absolute must! Adding on, we have been using eco-bricks, plastic bottles stuffed with non-biological waste, to create bricks for our stairs. Eco-bricking involved volunteer and staff to clean up the environment all while using the bricks to improve the Community Center.

It has been an incredible couple of months with all volunteers, staff, students and members of the community to help us keep our Educational Community Center in tip-top shape. We are all so eager to see what year 11 has in store and cannot be more thankful for all the support. There is still much improvement to be made in order to expand the classes to more learners, all which would not be possible without continued support. We look forward to 2018!
