Thank you to all our donors and supporters for getting us so far with Jambiani. Here s the latest update on what we have been able to achieve with your help.
- Toilet:
o The Toilet is in its final stages of completion, after many hard months or fundraising and work. The infrastructure is complete in its entirety, with plastering being accomplished thanks to the generous donations of our GlobalGiving donors.
o Most recently GlobalGiving funds have aided aesthetic work on the Toilet, supporting the purchase of paint, paint brushes and the necessary equipment which has allowed for our Volunteers to dramatically improve its appearance over the last few months.
o One of our current Volunteers, Chrissie Calvert from New Zealand, has designed a mural to celebrate our Pupils, the Community Centre and what it means to everyone involved! Everyone is currently hard at work completing this, we hope to celebrate its final reveal in the coming few weeks.
- Desks & Chairs.
o Thanks to the exceptional fundraising of our Education Coordinator, Tess Seward, we have been able to purchase Desks and Chairs to equip the Community Centre! An incredible accomplishment, which has helped our Pupils and Community Members to have a sense of ownership and pride over their School, something which we are incredibly grateful for.
o GlobalGiving funds have supported us in the protection of these valuable assets, with the purchase and application of varnish and polish to ensure their use and continued good condition for years to come.
o We have witnessed an incredible growth of numbers throughout the last two months thanks to the hard work of our staff, volunteers and community support. New pupils, joined our old pupils to celebrate the massive impact that finally achieving our goal of installing desks and chairs at the land has made.
- Easels.
o We have been blessed with some incredibly generous donations over the last few months, most notably from Ann-Marie Birgan who was an energizing wind in our sales in early July! Ann-Marie made an incredibly generous donation which, in combination with GlobalGiving funds made the purchase of easels possible for the School.
o We have since had them designed, sourced, created and installed, and now in a very fortunate position to be utilizing them to great extent, improving the services that we are able to offer for our local community and the accessibility of our Teaching.
