Japan Flood Relief Fund

Japan Flood Relief Fund

Summary

Heavy rain has caused flooding across the Saga Prefecture in Japan, particularly in Omachi and Takeo. Heavy rain has caused the water level of the Rokkaku River to rise, prompting at least 1,406 evacuations. GlobalGiving is working closely with our partners on the ground to get emergency support to them in this time of need.

Challenge

The flood has caused damage to a variety of buildings and properties. As GlobalGiving learned from our response to the 2011 earthquake and tsunami, it is vital to get funds to locally-led nonprofits that can respond to the community needs to provide both emergency relief as well as long-term recovery.

Solution

All donations to this fund will support flood relief and recovery efforts in Japan. Initially, the fund helps first responders meet survivors' immediate needs for food, fuel, clean water, medicine, and shelter. As needs emerge, we will support longer-term recovery efforts run by local, vetted organizations in the impacted area.

How Your Donation Will Be Used

When you donate to GlobalGiving's Japan FloodRelief Fund, your donation will be used to:

  • Provide food, water, and emergency medical supplies to people
  • Support temporary relief and emergency supplies for displaced families
  • Meet other needs that emerge
