Help Jayla's Community Outreach (JCO) revamp the lives of disadvantaged women and children throughout Maricopa County, Arizona. JCO assists low income, homeless or veteran women and foster care children by providing case management and support services. JCO provides women & children with hygiene products, gently used clothes, clothing vouchers, school supplies, emergency food boxes, foster care bags, bus passes, and referrals. JCO offers life skill training and employment search assistance.
JCO services low income women with or without children in the East Valley of Maricopa County. This location was selected due to the growing number of homeless women and children in the area and the need for a more inclusive support system. According to the U.S. Census Bureau the number of individuals living below the poverty line on a national average is 14%. Maricopa is slightly higher than the national average at 15% with the largest demographic living in poverty being women age 25-34.
JCO Revamp offers women with free courses to better prepare them for re-entering the career arena. Clients will also receive case management services, referrals and emergency support. Emergency support includes food boxes, clothing vouchers and gently used clothes, school supplies, hygiene kits and bus passes. By providing essential services during crisis allows for women to direct their focus more on stabilizing and providing for their children.
The goals of this program are to lower the number of children removed from their mothers' care due to lack of necessities, to assist women with gaining stability without the constant pressure of providing necessities for their children and to provide foster children and veterans with valuable support during their transition. The measurable result of our program is in how well our clients are able to carry on with activities of daily living.
