Responding to Haiti's most recent disaster

On August 14, 2021, Haiti was struck by a 7.2 magnitude earthquake that ended the lives of nearly 1,300 people, and hundreds more are still missing. Reports confirmed that more than 14,000 homes were destroyed and nearly as many severely damaged, leaving some 30,000 families homeless. Hospitals, schools, and offices were also destroyed or badly damaged.

Peace Winds is on the ground in Chantal, Haiti responding to the crisis where nearly 500 Haitians are dead, missing, or injured, and more than 2,500 homes have been damaged or destroyed. Survivors of the earthquake are asking for immediate assistance. Peace Winds is working to provide the most urgently needed necessities, including food, water, tents, blankets, and hygiene kits.

Lucian, pictured in the first photo, is one of the many Haitians to have lost their homes and family members. Lucien’s neighbors share their food every day, but they have been hit hard by the disaster, too, making it difficult for the whole community to continue surviving with the limited resources they have.

As this crisis takes a deadly toll on already vulnerable communities, it's times like these when we need your support more than ever. Donate today to help us deliver urgently needed supplies to survivors whose lives have been devastated by this disaster.
