Bright new faces in Pram pram!

By Melanie Popowich | Global Mamas

Dear Global Mamas Supporters,

We are so pleased to announce that since our last update we’ve had the opportunity to hire three new seamstresses. There’s no better way to say thank you than to introduce you to these three women who have directly benefited from your generosity.

JANET

Janet is 30 years old and has joined the Global Mamas team in Prampram as a seamstress.  She lives with her husband Daniel and their one-year-old daughter named Antoinette.  Antoinette already attends school each day and enjoys playing with her friends.

Before joining Global Mamas, Janet was attending school where she studied design.  Janet enjoys working for Global Mamas as her monthly salary enables her to save some money so that in the future she can return to school to finish her design course.

Janet dreams of going to university to become a design teacher.  Along with saving for her education and the education of her daughter, Janet sends money to her parents who live in a local village.

ELIZABETH

Elizabeth is 32 years old and is the first born in her family. She is married to Napolean and they have a two and a half year old daughter named Michelle.

Elizabeth loves to sew dresses and has her own shop in lower Prampram. She also likes to sing gospel music.  In 5 Years time, Elizabeth would like to have another child and become a professional seamstress. She dreams of attending Polytechnic in Tema for Sewing. Her ultimate goal is to send her kids through all levels of school so that they can receive a high education.

CHARITY

Charity is 31 years old and is one of eight siblings.  She lives with her mother and father, her younger sisters, and brothers. Charity has two children, Jonathan aged 4 Jennifer aged 2. Both attend school in Prampram.

She has managed her own shop for the past 5 years and is known for her Cabba, slits (traditional dress) and sews uniforms for local schools.

In her spare time, Charity likes to watch foreign movies and is a big fan of action movies. She is also a very good cook and likes to make fried rice, and banku, fufu stew.

Thank you from the entire Global Mamas team!
