Summary

This project will help 1,500 unemployed female nurses in Nigeria access job placements in rural and underserved areas. Thousands of qualified nurses remain idle despite rising health needs, especially in low-income communities. We will connect these nurses to primary care centers, provide them with orientation kits, and support their first six months on the job. This reduces health worker shortages and helps communities that lack reliable care.

Challenge

Thousands of qualified female nurses in Nigeria remain unemployed each year despite graduating from recognized institutions. At the same time, rural and poor communities face health worker shortages. Clinics are understaffed, and patients often go without care. The system lacks coordination between trained workers and areas in need. Many nurses give up due to lack of opportunity or money for relocation and job search costs.

Solution

This project will help 1,500 unemployed female nurses secure work by matching them to rural and low-income health centers. We will support placement logistics, orientation, transport, and documentation. Each nurse will receive tools to begin work right away. The project also connects clinics to a steady stream of available nurses, closing the gap between skilled health workers and underserved communities.

Long-Term Impact

The project will expand access to health care in areas with staff shortages and give 1,500 trained female nurses a chance to practice and earn income. By placing qualified nurses in under-resourced clinics, we improve daily care and reduce stress on the system. The project creates a working model that can be repeated to absorb more jobless nurses and strengthen health care access without building new hospitals.
