Challenge

In the past year, the homelessness crisis has escalated rapidly and St Mungo's faces huge challenges in meeting the rise in demand for our support: there has been a 26% increase in rough sleeping in the past 12 months. There has also been an increase of 26% in people sleeping rough for the first time in London. Tragically the average age of death for a person registered as homeless is just 45 years old. Other forms of homelessness have reached the highest levels since records began.

Solution

This is why we are launching our Winter Appeal, with the aim of raising $100,00 from businesses like yours. St Mungo's Outreach teams go out every day to help people off the streets, not only offering accommodation to help people off the streets in the short-term, but also specialist supported accommodation and recovery services, needed to help people rebuild their life away from the street.

Long-Term Impact

Your support could provide accommodation for a person sleeping rough for the first-time, giving them somewhere warm and safe to stay, and to prevent them returning to rough sleeping. It could also support our clients to develop new skills and help them into meaningful employment, which is vital for sustaining a tenancy and improving mental health or help our clients to access mental health support, to help them overcome past trauma and begin to build a life away from homelessness.
