Final Weeks in the Communities

By Joseph Amiri | Project Leader

Imagine this: You’re sweating.  It is 95 degrees, heavy sun, and you’re running the length of the soccer field as 25 adolescents race to score a goal to put their team ahead.

These are the conditions which Fundación Junto con los Niños (JUCONI) braves each week for its four separate soccer clubs. The elements may be unfavorable, but JUCONI´s soccer club is nothing short of impressive. JUCONI has worked with the communities that JUCONI serves for the last two years, with over 120 adolescents. Soccer club serves as a supplemental activity for the communities, in addition to the personalized therapy each family receives in their homes with a JUCONI psychologist.

Soccer club typically utilize jogs, races, marches, stretches, and the sport itself to aid a sense of fraternity and teamwork for the adolescents JUCONI serves. Thanks to your continued support, JUCONI Football club recently competed in a tournament with kids from nearby schools within the community. JUCONI purchased healthy snacks for all participants and discussed the importance of friendship in a workshop designed by JUCONI therapists. A fast-paced tournament that consisted of six games included children from 5 years old to 17 years old. JUCONI was particularly proud of the tournament because local community members such helped distribute snacks, referee the games, and share with the JUCONI participants. JUCONI understands that is most important about the work we do is the sustainability and we were so encouraged to see local communities engaged with their youth. Thanks to your generosity, participants became futbolistas in the sectors while community members saw them in action and supported the children from Socio Vivienda 2, where the majority of the JUCONI children live.

Our team at JUCONI was so happy to collaborate with such a new and exciting group in sport as a tool for growth. Take pride in the fact that you too made an impact with your incredible generosity. JUCONI is looking ahead to new projects that will inspire the community members where we work, but currently, we could not be more grateful for how through your support, lives have been transformed in our communities with the help of soccer, fraternity, and most of all: sprints.

Thank you again for your support.

Sincerely,

Joseph Amiri
