Challenge

As of February 2019, Uganda is the largest refugee hosting country with over 1.4 million refugees. 10% live in Kampala, 68% are southern Sudanese (UNHCR monthly fact-shee 2019). Refugees between age 15- 30 are disproportionately affected by the absence of meaningful education and life skills development opportunities (UNHCR 2018). This adds more burdens to a country that already has 1.3 million youth unemployment (Uganda Population report 2018).

Solution

To contribute towards the inclusion and integration of refugee youth in transformative leadership for change while contributing to strengthening the support initiatives curbing unemployment and appropriately addressing the needs of the refugee youth towards achieving their dreams and maintain their focus. Growth that works for everyone, including refugee women's economic rights, decent jobs and entrepreneurship, investing in the poorest and most vulnerable, and safeguarding economic gains.

Long-Term Impact

In this way, non-formal education and vocational training in employable skills will assist 100 refugee Youth, women to overcome both unemployment , abuse physical and psychological obstacles that displacement presents. It promotes psycho-social well-being and cognitive development; helps Youth refugees to regain a sense of security, independence, dignity, and self-worth and provides YOUTH refugees with skills and knowledge to become employed
