Access to menstrual hygiene products remains a major challenge for many girls in rural Uganda. Without proper protection, girls often stay home during their periods, missing valuable learning time and falling behind academically. Through your support, we are helping change this reality.
This quarter, our project reached vulnerable adolescent girls with reusable sanitary pads and menstrual health education. The distributions were accompanied by interactive training sessions that focused on hygiene practices, reproductive health, and self-esteem. These sessions created safe spaces where girls could ask questions and receive accurate information without fear of judgment.
The impact has been encouraging. School administrators reported improved attendance among supported girls, particularly during menstruation. Students who previously missed classes every month are now attending school more consistently and participating actively in lessons and extracurricular activities.
Beyond the classroom, the project is helping challenge harmful cultural beliefs that often surround menstruation. Community discussions involving parents, teachers, and local leaders have increased awareness and support for girls' menstrual health needs. As a result, many families are becoming more comfortable discussing the topic openly.
One beneficiary shared that receiving reusable pads has allowed her to remain in school throughout the month, giving her confidence to pursue her dream of becoming a teacher. Stories like hers demonstrate the life-changing impact of donor support.
Together, we are ensuring that girls can learn with dignity, confidence, and equal opportunities to succeed.
