JULY 2021 PROGRAMS UPDATE

In December, 2020, you contributed to our Giving Tuesday Jump-For-The-Good campaign through GlobalGiving, supporting the efforts of over 90 young people who jumped rope to raise funds for For the Good in the hopes of creating positive change for girls in Kenya. The funds you gave to support their effort have allowed us to return with new energy and vision to re-engage in the work of our core programs.

Specifically, during the second quarter of 2021, this money allowed us to:

• Open what will become just the third day secondary school across a 646-square-mile region of Kenya in the community of Olmesutie.

• Trial a pilot of remote server technology called RACHELS (Remote Area Community Hotspot for Education and Learning) in Olmesutie. (More on RACHELS). RACHELS have high potential to improve the quality of education in places where there are few teachers and very limited resources, such as in the communities we serve. RACHELS are easy-to-use, portable, battery-powered devices that contain content from hundreds of educational websites in offline format. They can be used anywhere in the world to wirelessly deliver free digital educational content to nearby tablets, laptops, or smartphones with no internet or data plans required.

• Roll out a new grant that supports secondary schools through their vulnerable first year while encouraging the hiring of female teachers, which serve as powerful and important mentors for Maasai girls.

Thank you, as always, from the bottom of our hearts, for supporting these efforts and being such powerful advocates for girls in Kenya!
