Dear friends of the ORS-FM radio station,
We hope you are well, and enjoyed a rest over the summer.
Thank you for your continued interest and support in keeping the ORS-FM radio station on air! As the first (and only) community-led radio station in Tanzania broadcasting to the Maasai in their own language, Maa, it is an essential way for the Maasai to access news and stay connected.
It has been the dry season in northern Tanzania, which means that there has been plenty of sunshine, enabling the solar-powered system to run smoothly.
However, it has also been a dry period for fundraising. Unfortunately we have had very few donations recently. Across the globe, people are feeling the crunch of the cost of living crisis and reduction in international development aid from many governments. Any support you provide – no matter how small – goes such a long way to support underserved communities, such as the residents in Terrat, and far beyond.
We are very grateful to you for partnering with us, and with the Maasai communities in northern Tanzania who tune into ORS-FM. Your donations provide a lifeline to keep the radio station alive.
Sincere thanks from us all,
Lottie & the team at Smart Villages.
