In Abuja, 4 out of 10 girls drop out of school by age 17, often due to economic pressure and lack of support. This project uses football to change that. We provide school fees, supplies, and a girls' football league to keep 300 girls in school this year. The need is urgent; without intervention now, these girls face early marriage or child labor. Football builds their confidence and gives them a reason to stay, learn, and lead.
Girls in Abuja face high dropout rates. Families often choose to educate sons while daughters are pulled out for housework, early marriage, or to work. This ends their education early, limits their future, and continues the cycle of poverty. These girls lose their chance to learn and build a better life.
We combine football with direct educational support. We pay school fees and provide materials to remove the cost barrier. We then run a girls' football league where playing is linked to school attendance. The league builds community, confidence, and a strong incentive for girls to remain in class and excel.
Educated girls grow into women who invest in their own families and communities. Keeping 300 girls in school means fewer child marriages, healthier families, and more women entering the workforce. This project plants seeds for a generation of literate, confident women who can break the poverty cycle for good.
