You enable us to create Opportunities!

By Louise and the KTD196 Dream Team | Jack of all trades, master of none!

This is a post that I put on Facebook at the beginning of the year for Keep The Dream196. We all need encouragement as we travel this journey together. We all need to know we are important, that we are appreciated and that what we do has made or will make a difference to others.

It has stuck in my mind how important you are to me, to KTD196, to the children we serve, and to the lives, we have changed. None of this would or could happen without your contribution. You are the powerhouse behind our success.

In the past, I have written about what you mean to us, to KTD196, to the children however I sometimes also get the feeling that you think this is just a financial transaction. You give, we receive! It is so much more on our side. We know you could have given to any one of the over 7,000 organizations registered with GlobalGiving. You could have given outside of GG to any number of the millions of organizations out there! But no! You chose to give to the children of KTD196 and I am very grateful.

I have had personal contact with some sponsors, you have asked questions, sent encouragement, inspired us to do better, all of which I am very grateful for. I would like to hear from you about what else you would like to know about? How else I can meet your needs as our supporter? Is there any particular information you would like to know? I know it is another thing to do but I am serious about making this a community of supporters! For you to feel appreciated and a part of KTD196? I need to know you are satisfied. If there are any changes you would like to see?

I am in the process of scheduling our reports for the year and this will help me meet your needs and mine as I need to decide what you would like to hear about over this year.

I want to thank you for your support, your efforts to reach out to me, your interest in our kids and in South Africa in general. You make us shine! I am very grateful.

Blessings

Louise

As we excitedly start the New Year, I want to take this time to remember those who didn't make it into 2022.

Throughout the course of the last two years, like many of you, I am sure, I have lost family and friends. I don't want to be morbid but I do want to pause and reflect on the preciousness of life, that life is not guaranteed, and that we cannot afford to take life for granted. We need to be the best versions of ourselves for the sake of others.

Kindness can cover over a multitude of hurts and grief, we have the power to change other people's negative experiences of life.

An Australian Prime Minister, Malcolm Fraser, once said, "Life wasn't meant to be easy". As I think about this quote I think Life especially when it isn't easy is meant to bring out the best in us! It is an opportunity for us to be kind and considerate, to help one another, to encourage and support each other. It is an opportunity to showcase our humanity despite the circumstances we find ourselves in.

Let 2022 be just that, 365days of opportunities to be our best, to show our best, to do our best, and care for one another. Let’s continue to make a difference in our families, schools, workplaces, communities, and society in general.

God bless you and your families.
