Dear Friends and Partners of Keep The Dream196,
We are very happy that you have chosen to partner with Keep The Dream196 to continue to change the life outcomes of these beautiful children here in Limpopo Province. Children are the future and if they cannot dream our future would be bleek. As we start 2019, I am happy to share with you how your funds are stewareded. As a partner, we believe it is important to let you know your resouces are well managed and truly serving the children.
As you can see from the graph attached 79% of monies raised go towards the Project Costs or in other words the children's program, the parenting program and the Induna’s program (village leadership).
The American Better Business Bureau cites that organizations need to have 40% Administration and Management costs to be fully sustainable. We are able to run on 21% effectively at this stage however, we are planning to expand in this coming year and will need to add more administrative and project staff to ensure the success of the expansion.
Under project costs we have activities such as:
To name just a few activities.
What this means in terms of outcome is that we, our programs and services, have been an important part of the many communities in which we work, and with your continued help, we can continue to provide lasting impact in the lives of these chldren, their families, the townships and beyond. Thank you! We could not do all that we do without you.
We have reduced teenage pregnancy from 12.7% in Limpopo Province to 0.08% which in real numbers means out of 13,486 teenage girls we have had 12 pregnancies in 16years instead of statistically the 1,874 pregnancies we should have experienced.
You will agree this is a phenomenal impact for the children of Limpopo. We have saved the government in excess of R176million rand over 16yrs by not having to pay out Child Support Grants to these children for 18yrs.
Primarily our children are no longer having children. In fact most pregnancies, of the children who have aged out of the project at 18yrs; are young women in committed relationships around the age of 22yrs. No longer children but adults having children. This saves a whole lot of complications, maternal and child related illnesses and deaths.
Just this weekend I went to a wedding of one of our original 13 girls, it was attended by our Scouts who acted as ushers for the whole day, also many of the cubs and scouts were part of the invited guests and bridal party.
I have enclosed a photo of the girls who have remained friends 10years after they left Scouts. We were also honoured to give a presentation during the wedding reception on the impact of the work we do. The Community of Shiluvane were amazed at the impact and for the first time understood the broad impact of the work we do. It was so exciting because 4 pastors approached us (we are already in the primary and high schools) to start Scouts in their churches.
It is so humbling for me to see these young girls grow in to married ladies. In fact we have 3 more weddings to attend this year that I know of which is fabulous.
With the first photos, from Left to Right Nkateko is an Occupational Therapist, Amu is a Teacher, Phindile (the Bride) is an Occupational Therapist, Nkulu is a Social Worker working with KTD196, Khanyisa is sitting her Articles to be a Chartered Accountant this year, Puleng is studying Political Science and finally Tiyani is a qualifying to be a plumber.
This week, for something different, I have attached a video testimony from Angel rather than insert a story, the page will redirect you to our Facebook page so you can hear first hand the impact of KTD196 on the children we serve. Please dont forget to like our page and rate our organization. This all helps in the long run.
Thank you so much for your continued support and encouragement it really is very special. To those who are wondering about my mum, she is doing well. As you can imagine she is struggling to adapt to her new surroundings but apart from that she is physically getting stronger every day.
Thank you once again all
Louise
