Welcome one and all to Keep The Dream196’s own community of supporters! This is where you get to leave comments, ask questions and find out more about the program you have chosen to support. This is where you find out about the impact you hard earned money has had on the lives of the children we serve.
Firstly, thank you to everyone for choosing to donate to the kids we serve. Welcome to all our new members and hello to all our long standing supporters. I hope you are enjoying reading these reports.
Well, camp is on! Phew, its been a flurry. We are on camp number 4 & 5. Currently we have over 100 children attending camp, camping outside under the stars having new experiences, enjoying nature, exploring the great outdoors. They are learning meaning full skills such as leadership of small groups, holding meetings, writing minutes and agenda’s for when they return to their own small groups back in their villages. Plus other skills such as first aid, communication skills, learning lashings, different ways to secure loads or tents, cooking without utensils.
These 100 kids will stay until Friday, then over the weekend our staff breathe a sigh of relief and catch up with washing, resting and preparing for 100 new kids on the following Monday. Next week’s camps are designed particularly at monitoring and evaluation of the small groups. The kids will learn skills such as evaluation, monitoring, assessment, creating action plans to address issues identified, following through on decisions made in order for their small groups and larger groups to be successful long term.
The kids go on hikes, orienteering, treasure hunts, map and compass work all of which assists them with their school studies which is an added benefit.
This weekend we held an Introduction to Adult Leadership where we trained 36 new adults from around Limpopo Province including 9 teachers, who are so excited, to return to their schools and implement the program. These 9 teachers alone will impact 450students for the next however many years and replicate our impact that we are seeing in Greater Tzaneen.
All of this because of your support. All of this is directly related to your support. The ripple effect is amazing, not just the number of teachers and new children but also their families and their communities. I hope you are as excited as we are.
We also trained 4 partner organizations, 2 of which are new and so we will be replicating our results within the communities these organizations are operating. Again because of your support.
Please if you would like to know more just drop me a line keepthedream196@gmail.com and I will answer any questions you may have. If you can, come for a visit and see us in action.
Tomorrow I am leaving the camp to go to Durban to receive training on Child Protection which is a core part of what we do. This is sponsored training by our donor Kindernothilfe a German organization whom we partnered with 6years ago. This assists us to stay relevant and up to date with what is happening around the world.
Well I hope you enjoy this edition of our news.
Thank you once again for all of your support and encouragement
Blessings
Louise
Here is a comment made to me from one of the teachers we trained during the recent Introduction to Adult Learning held on the weekend.
What a wonderful, professional group of trainers from Keep The Dream196. Their passion comes through every session in which they trained us. We have learnt how to implement the Scouts program for the children we teach. By working with KTD196 we will be supported to implement the program, if we need advice or knowledge or skills they are there to help us.
The program produces wonderful impact in the lives of the children and as adults we are also learning. It is exciting to see how this will all come together. So many kids need this program.
Thank you for sponsoring the training Keep The Dream196. We are ready to change the world.
