Avuxeni, minjani? Umfekile, minjane!
I trust you are well and healthy in what ever part of the world you live, I know I have some people from the USA, UK, Europe, Australia, Canada represented on this group, why don’t you just drop me a line to tell me where you are from?
Well as some of you know, we had a donor who supports the SHG program come and see us, come and visit the newly formed CLA (Cluster Level Association) the second stage in the SHG program. The CLA is responsible for taking up the challenges identified by the SHG’s (Self Help Groups) at community level and to championing them to the respective government departments. That is how 2communities now have water after many years without this essential service.
The donors came to speak to the CLA and hear what their plans are for the next year, to meet with them and to hear about their history with the SHG process and to basically evaluate KTD196 effectiveness in the overall program.
It was exciting to watch the interaction because often when speaking to rural ladies or children for that matter, they don’t talk, they become shy and withdrawn. Not these ladies, they are so proud of the work they have already done, the creation of their action plan and attending the various trainings. It is so exciting to see the passion and the readiness to serve their communities.
First on the agenda is to approach SAPS (South African Police Service) and set up a CPF (Community Policing Forum) to battle crime. Crime is escalating everywhere, the villages particularly are targeted because the Police do not have a presence there, the are often kilometres away and may or may not have a functioning vehicle to attend to any crime after they have been committed. The CLA want crime prevention and will mobilize through the Induna’s (Village Chiefs) to ensure this occurs.
Our projects are becoming broader and more important every day.
Thank you for your support, through initiatives like this we are keeping the children and women safer from harm. We have plans in the future to link with the CPF’s to implement a Safe House Approach for women and children to go to if they feel at risk ie bullying, abuse etc; in the community. We are really bringing substantial change through your support.
Thank you so much, I hope you enjoy the video of the days celebration and bask in the knowledge that your support of KTD196 is bringing real positive change to the lives of those we serve.
God Bless you
Louise
