Half of the population of people who live in abject poverty in Africa are children. Poor health can affect education. Poverty creates lack of access to education or good medical health care. In our poverty-fighting approach, this project aims to educate, empower and provide medical support to 1000 kids who live in abject poverty in Nigeria. We aim to give 1000 kids access to basic tools they need to succeed, regain their self-esteem and break free from poverty.
Study shows that 86.9 million Nigerians now live in extreme poverty. Children account for 75% of the world's poverty statistics. They are always at the receiving end of this problem because of their vulnerability. The effects of poverty on children are complex, numerous and complicated. Education, health services, hunger, clothing, nutrition are some of the basic rights which most Nigerian children lack. Poor children find it hard to succeed because of these numerous challenges.
The root cause of poverty lies in the deprivation of the basic necessities as food, healthcare, good nutrition and education. Investing in Education would break the barrier of poverty. Until hunger is eradicated, poverty will continue to haunt our children. One of our focus areas is conquering hunger. Investing in health and well being of children will reduce infant mortality and morbidity rate to the minimum Empowerment, feeding and skills training would sustain children and young adults.
The basic skills like reading, writing, numeracy, technology would provide children and youth with relevant theoretical and practical skills which in turn, will increase the rate of returns on the economy. Access to good medical aid will greatly reduce the rate of infant mortality and morbidity. A pregnant mother with no good nutrition stand the risk of giving birth to a malfunctional child. With access to affordable medical aid, this can be avoided. Empowerment makes youths responsibile
