Challenge

Strategy Paper 2006, highlights gender as a key determinant of poverty in Kenya and their Sustainable and Poverty Reduction Programme Progress Report 2004 places strong emphasis on the importance of gender equality for development and poverty reduction. Despite attempts made by the Government at policy level to address the severity of the GBV situation major problems relate to the implementation of policies laws. Limited capacity and low commitment of law enforcement bodies to implement laws.

Solution

children have not been spared on abuse hence it is such that the community has helped to abate the vice by appeasing the families of victims through payment of cash or offer of an animal like a cow. A key strategy of the project of this project is to build the capacity of the parents and guardians in respect understanding the health risks created by rape and how important they can be key preventer of the vice. They will be strengthened on human rights and existing laws as well legal framework

Long-Term Impact

Reduced cases of rape and other GBV in the county Reduced cases of girl child drop out Increased knowledge of human rights Reduced number of unwanted pregnancies Reduced cases of sexual related infections Strong family values of respect of human dignity
